The Role

You will work closely with the Founder, Engineering Lead, and other engineers to build AI agents, internal tools, content management systems, and CRM platforms.

You will independently plan and deliver features across both frontend and backend, taking ownership from implementation and testing through deployment and ongoing operation.

You will report to the Engineering Lead, who provides technical direction and reviews key technical decisions. You will also contribute to planning, code reviews, and engineering standards across the team.

What You’ll Do

Planning & Development

• Translate business requirements into technical plans, break features into actionable tasks, estimate effort, and identify dependencies.

• Build web interfaces, backend services, APIs, and integrations with third-party systems.

• Design database models and implement business workflows, authentication, and access control mechanisms.

• Develop AI agents that leverage business data, tools, and external services to perform defined tasks.

• Implement retrieval and context management capabilities within AI agent workflows.

Testing & Engineering Quality

• Test application behaviour and AI-generated outputs, including edge cases, failure scenarios, and recovery flows.

• Review code and document important technical decisions.

• Critically evaluate AI-generated code and ensure the final implementation meets engineering standards.

Deployment & Operations

• Deploy and monitor features in production.

• Investigate production issues and continuously improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability.

• Take ownership of features beyond development, including ongoing operation and troubleshooting.

Collaboration

• Communicate progress, blockers, and technical considerations clearly with the team.

• Coordinate closely with other engineers throughout planning and delivery.

• Use AI development tools effectively while remaining accountable for the quality and correctness of the code you ship.

What You’ll Bring

• 4–7 years of professional software engineering experience, including proven ability to independently deliver full-stack features.

• At least 1 year of hands-on experience in AI application development, with practical experience building AI agents.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with experience developing React frontends and Node.js backend services.

• Experience designing APIs, integrating third-party services, and working with databases.

• Practical understanding of LLM APIs, tool calling, structured outputs, retrieval, and context management.

• Familiarity with AI application libraries and the ability to understand the trade-offs involved when selecting different technologies.

• Experience testing, deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting production software.

• Ability to explain technical decisions, critically review AI-generated code, and recognize situations that require input from the Engineering Lead.

• Strong written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively within a remote engineering team.

Preferred Experience

• Experience shipping and maintaining AI agents in production, including evaluating agent behaviour and improving reliability, latency, and cost.

• Experience deploying and operating applications on Azure or AWS.

• Experience building CMS, CRM, or internal enterprise applications.

• Familiarity with technologies used across the projects, such as:

  • Next.js, Hono, Express

  • PostgreSQL, Prisma, MongoDB

  • Redis and background job queues

  • Directus

  • Mastra, AI SDK, or Langfuse
