QA Team Lead

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Quality Leadership

  • Take overall responsibility for the quality of releases within your product area.
  • Determine testing priorities based on business impact, project timelines, and risk assessment.
  • Ensure every release meets production-quality standards before deployment.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, requirement analysis, and release planning activities.
  • Proactively identify quality risks and coordinate mitigation strategies.

2. Team Management

  • Manage and coach QA engineers across both Manual and Automation teams (two teams of approximately 3–4 members each).
  • Lead recruitment, define objectives and KPIs, conduct regular one-on-one meetings, and oversee performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture centered on accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Continuously improve team productivity and delivery effectiveness.

3. Test Strategy & Automation

  • Lead large-scale test case creation using AI-assisted tools while maintaining strong review standards and measurable productivity expectations.
  • Develop and refine regression testing strategies.
  • Expand and maintain automated testing across UI, API, and integration layers.
  • Strengthen CI/CD quality gates to increase deployment confidence.
  • Improve test execution efficiency without sacrificing meaningful coverage.
  • Encourage exploratory, risk-driven, and customer-focused testing practices.

4. Product & Customer Quality

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Customer Support teams.
  • Review production issues and customer feedback to continuously strengthen test coverage.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement preventive quality improvements.
  • Prioritize customer experience and product quality over purely internal QA metrics.

5. QA Process Improvement

  • Design and implement practical QA processes that are easy for teams to adopt.
  • Monitor quality metrics and evaluate testing effectiveness.
  • Enhance release readiness, test planning, and defect tracking practices.
  • Introduce AI-powered QA workflows where they improve efficiency and quality.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in Software QA or Quality Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading QA teams or serving as a QA Lead.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume testing. A single feature may require approximately 500–1,000 test cases, while a product can include 2,000–4,000 regression test cases. You should be able to explain how you would leverage AI tools, reusable templates, and prioritization techniques to efficiently create and maintain testing assets.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar solutions to enhance QA productivity.
  • Capable of estimating testing effort independently and leading the team to deliver against those estimates.
  • Strong practical experience with:
    • Test automation
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Regression testing strategies
    • Agile/Scrum development environments
  • Skilled at reviewing product requirements and identifying quality risks before implementation.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience coaching and developing junior and mid-level QA engineers.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on SaaS or enterprise software products.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, Microsoft 365 technologies, backup and storage solutions, virtualization, or infrastructure software.
  • Track record of improving release quality and minimizing production defects.
  • Experience designing or enhancing automation frameworks and overall QA architecture.
