Software Development Engineer II

About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer II, you will take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining production-grade software components for enterprise AI solutions.

Working alongside experienced engineers, solution architects, and delivery teams, you'll be responsible for delivering scalable backend services, cloud-native applications, and integrations while contributing throughout the entire software development lifecycle—from design and implementation to deployment and production support.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of their work, and building reliable software with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and system integrations.
• Deliver software components throughout the complete development lifecycle, including design, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
• Build backend applications primarily using Python (FastAPI or similar frameworks) and contribute to frontend development using React where needed.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and testing frameworks.
• Implement comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, and regression testing.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and documentation.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while continuously improving system reliability and performance.
• Support and mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and collaborative development.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to enhance engineering productivity, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience building production applications.
• Strong programming skills in at least one modern programming language, with Python being highly preferred.
• Proven experience developing backend services, RESTful APIs, and working with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on experience deploying and operating cloud applications on AWS, particularly with ECS/EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevSecOps.
• Experience with React, Node.js, or modern web application development is advantageous.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging skills, and a proactive ownership mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience will stand out:

• Delivered production systems supporting enterprise or high-traffic applications.
• Exposure to AI technologies such as LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), or agentic AI frameworks.
• Practical experience incorporating AI-powered developer tools into daily engineering workflows.
• Built reusable internal libraries, tools, or frameworks adopted by engineering teams.

Travel

This role may involve occasional travel to client locations across Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand, and Japan, depending on project requirements. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.
