Staff Software Engineer – Data Platforms

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Data Platforms to join our founding R&D team in Ho Chi Minh City.

In this role, you will lead the architecture and evolution of large-scale distributed backend systems, graph-oriented data platforms, and high-performance data pipelines that power SaaS security solutions and AI-driven products.

Beyond hands-on technical leadership, you will help shape architectural strategy, mentor engineers across the organization, and establish engineering best practices as the Vietnam engineering hub continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the architecture and development of scalable distributed backend services and graph-based data platforms.

  • Lead the design and implementation of high-volume, low-latency data processing and ingestion systems using Python and Go.

  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, mentorship, and engineering guidance.

  • Partner closely with product, platform, and security research teams to deliver scalable product capabilities.

  • Anticipate operational and architectural risks, designing resilient and observable systems that maintain reliability at scale.

  • Work effectively with globally distributed teams through clear technical documentation and asynchronous collaboration practices.

What We‘re Looking For

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in backend and distributed systems.

  • Deep proficiency in Python and Go.

  • Proven experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production, including consensus, replication, partitioning, backpressure, and idempotency.

  • Hands-on experience with graph data and graph databases such as Neo4j, JanusGraph, Neptune, TigerGraph, or similar tools.

  • Strong understanding of storage and streaming systems, including PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, S3, Kafka, and Redis.

  • Experience designing APIs and backend services for high-traffic, multi-tenant workloads.

  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.

  • Track record of leading cross-team technical initiatives and driving technical alignment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing cybersecurity or security-focused software products.

  • Background in graph analytics, knowledge graphs, entity relationships, or risk intelligence systems.

  • Familiarity with query engines, query optimization strategies, graph traversal frameworks, or custom query layers.

  • Experience with observability and real-time data processing technologies such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Apache Flink, or Spark Streaming.

  • Contributions to open-source projects related to distributed systems, graph technologies, or large-scale data infrastructure.

AI-Driven Engineering Environment

As part of an engineering organization that embraces AI, Staff Engineers are expected to leverage AI technologies effectively and help build platforms that support AI-powered applications.

Successful candidates should have experience or familiarity with:

  • AI-assisted development tools and the ability to critically assess AI-generated code and recommendations.

  • Core AI and machine learning concepts, including large language models (LLMs), embeddings, vector databases, model inference, and evaluation methodologies.

  • Designing and operating data infrastructure that enables AI use cases such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), while maintaining scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Supporting performance, observability, and operational excellence across AI-enabled systems.

Working Model

This position is based in Ho Chi Minh City and follows a primarily office-based working model during the early growth phase of the engineering hub, with an expectation of at least three days per week onsite.

Close in-person collaboration during this stage will help the team accelerate decision-making, build strong technical partnerships, and establish a high-performing engineering culture as the organization scales.
