Job Description

Department: Marketing
Job Title: Performance Marketing Specialist
Reporting to: Marketing & Communications Lead

Job Scope

Roles & Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a hands-on, data-focused Performance Marketing Specialist to take full ownership of paid customer acquisition for its consumer business. This is an individual contributor position with a high degree of autonomy. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the paid media strategy, managing budgets, executing campaigns directly, and being accountable for overall performance results. The role reports to the Marketing Lead and collaborates closely with the content, design, and marketing operations teams.

1. Paid Media & Budget Management (50%)

  • Take full ownership of paid media planning and execution, from strategy development to in-platform launch and ongoing optimisation.

  • Maximise the use of the allocated paid media budget while maintaining strong control over spend, pacing, efficiency, and returns.

  • Establish and manage budgets, ROAS targets, and pacing plans, balancing business growth with cost efficiency.

  • Make data-driven decisions on channel allocation and independently shift budgets based on campaign performance.

  • Develop and manage retargeting and audience strategies using first-party data to improve advertising efficiency and performance.

2. Owned D2C Website & Conversion (20%)

  • Help shape and improve the owned D2C website experience to increase conversion, partnering with product, technology, and design teams.

  • Lead landing page and funnel optimisation initiatives to minimise drop-off and improve the conversion journey from click to purchase.

  • Ensure the website experience, promotional offers, and messaging are aligned with paid campaigns to create a consistent path to purchase.

3. Experimentation & Optimisation (15%)

  • Own the testing roadmap by identifying and prioritising hypotheses, then conducting structured experiments across audiences, offers, messaging, and landing pages.

  • Establish a consistent test-and-learn cycle, reviewing campaign performance daily and continuously refining targeting, copy, and placements.

  • Increase investment in high-performing campaigns, reduce or adjust underperforming ones, and proactively identify signs of audience or campaign saturation.

  • Develop ad copy and messaging concepts, while working with designers by providing clear creative briefs rather than producing visual assets directly.

4. Reporting, Insights & Economics (15%)

  • Serve as the primary owner of paid media performance data and provide leadership with clear recommendations on what is performing well and where changes are required.

  • Own consumer unit economics, with a focus on incremental impact rather than relying solely on platform-reported results.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly performance reporting, highlighting key insights and providing actionable recommendations.

  • Work closely with marketing operations to ensure accurate tracking, attribution, and dashboards, enabling reliable data-driven decision-making.

  • Leverage performance insights to influence positioning, promotional strategies, and messaging.

Key metrics owned: ROAS, CAC, CPA, CPC, CTR, CVR, AOV, LTV.

Job Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in performance or growth marketing, including in-house ownership within a DTC, ecommerce, subscription, or consumer brand environment.

  • Experience working within a regulated category such as health, supplements, or wellness.

  • Demonstrated success in scaling consumer brands through paid media, combining strategic ownership with hands-on campaign execution within advertising platforms.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn quantitative data into strategic decisions and actionable insights, with a solid understanding of the key performance metrics listed above.

  • Proven ability to set, manage, and maximise the efficiency of paid media budgets.

  • Hands-on experience with website conversion rate optimisation, landing page experimentation, and funnel improvement.

  • Strong proficiency in GA4, analytics, attribution, and performance reporting tools.

  • Strong copywriting skills for advertisements and landing pages, with the ability to effectively brief and guide designers on creative direction.

  • Detail-oriented and highly numbers-driven, with a strong bias toward action and the ability to work independently within a lean team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in subscription, lifecycle, or retention marketing.

  • Understanding of incrementality and marketing measurement frameworks.

  • Comfortable creating or refining marketing assets using AI tools.
