The Opportunity

We are looking for a Principal Software Development Engineer I to provide technical leadership across large-scale engineering initiatives. This role is responsible for defining architectural direction, driving engineering excellence, and guiding technical decisions that influence multiple teams and enterprise programs.

This is a senior individual contributor position requiring both strong architectural expertise and hands-on technical capability. You will work closely with engineering leaders, solution architects, and enterprise clients to design highly scalable, secure, and reliable software platforms.

The organization also embraces AI-assisted software development, and engineers are encouraged to leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency, quality, testing, documentation, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Define technical architecture and long-term engineering strategy across multiple projects and platforms.
• Design secure, scalable, cloud-native systems for enterprise customers operating in regulated industries.
• Establish engineering standards, architectural patterns, and technical best practices adopted across the organization.
• Provide technical leadership for complex engineering, scalability, reliability, and performance challenges.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership, architects, delivery teams, and senior client stakeholders to shape technical solutions.
• Lead technology evaluation, architecture decisions, and build-versus-buy assessments.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers while strengthening technical capabilities across engineering teams.
• Develop reusable platforms, frameworks, and accelerators that improve engineering productivity and delivery consistency.
• Promote effective adoption of AI-powered engineering tools throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 10–15 years of experience designing and delivering large-scale production software.
• Strong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-native application design.
• Extensive experience with AWS, including enterprise networking, security, and cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated experience setting technical direction across multiple engineering teams or large technology programs.
• Experience working within highly regulated industries such as banking, financial services, telecommunications, or insurance is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership skills.
• Strong hands-on engineering background with the ability to contribute to technical implementation when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Led architecture for mission-critical enterprise platforms.
• Experience building or architecting AI, Generative AI, or Agentic AI platforms at scale.
• Proven success establishing engineering standards, reusable platforms, and technical governance across an organization.
• Recognized as a trusted technical leader, mentor, or subject matter expert.

Travel & Work Environment

This role supports enterprise clients across Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand, and Japan. Travel requirements may vary depending on project needs. Relocation support may be available where applicable.
